Terms of Service
Last updated 19 July 2026
These are the terms that apply when you use BoltNum ("we", "us"). They're written in plain English on purpose — if anything here is unclear, email us at hello@boltnum.com and we'll explain it. By creating an account or subscribing, you agree to them.
1. What BoltNum is
BoltNum gives your business a local phone number (currently UK and US numbers) with an AI-generated voicemail greeting, voicemail transcription delivered to your inbox, an optional press-1 call-through to your own phone, and outbound calling that shows your BoltNum number as caller ID. It's a service for receiving and returning business calls — it is not a replacement for a phone line.
2. No emergency calls
You cannot call 999, 112, 911, or any other emergency service through BoltNum. BoltNum is not a telephone replacement and must never be relied on to reach emergency services. Keep an ordinary mobile or landline available for emergencies.
3. Your account
You need an account to use BoltNum. Keep your password secure — you're responsible for activity on your account. You must be at least 18 and using BoltNum for business purposes. Give us accurate information; number providers and regulators require it, and we may have to suspend numbers backed by false details.
4. Plans and billing
- There is one plan: £9/month (UK) or $12/month (US), everything included, billed monthly in advance.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
- Your subscription renews automatically each month until you cancel. You can cancel any time from your billing settings; your number stays active until the end of the period you've paid for.
- There is no free trial — instead, there's a money-back guarantee (below).
- If we ever change the price, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice by email before it affects you.
5. 14-day money-back guarantee
If BoltNum isn't for you, email hello@boltnum.com within 14 days of your first payment and we'll refund it in full, no questions asked. The guarantee applies once per customer, on your first subscription only. When we refund you, your subscription ends and your number is released.
6. Fair use — 300 inbound minutes a month
Each subscription includes up to 300 inbound call minutes per month, which covers the overwhelming majority of small businesses. We'll email you a warning at 80% of the allowance. If you reach 100%, call-through and outbound calling pause until your next billing cycle — but voicemail never stops: callers always hear your greeting and can always leave a message. If you consistently need more than 300 minutes, talk to us.
7. Your phone number
- Each subscription includes one phone number, purchased from our carrier partner after your payment completes. If your exact chosen number has been taken in the meantime, we allocate the closest available match in the same area.
- Numbers are leased from telecoms carriers, not owned outright — by you or by us. Very occasionally a carrier or regulator can require a number to be changed or withdrawn; if that ever happens we'll give you a replacement and as much notice as we're able to.
- When your subscription ends, your number is released back to the carrier pool and may eventually be reassigned to someone else. If you want to keep the number, keep the subscription active.
- Number porting (moving a number in or out of BoltNum) isn't currently supported.
8. Acceptable use
Use BoltNum lawfully and for genuine business calls. In particular, you must not use it for:
- spam, robocalling, cold-call marketing at scale, or anything that breaches telemarketing rules;
- harassment, fraud, impersonation, or caller-ID misuse;
- artificially inflating traffic or reselling the service;
- anything that gets our carrier relationships or number ranges suspended.
Voicemails left on your number are recorded and transcribed — that's the product — and callers hear your greeting before the tone. If you use call-through or outbound calling in a way that records calls, you're responsible for complying with the call-recording and consent laws that apply to you. We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules, and where a carrier or regulator requires immediate action we may have to act before notifying you.
9. Service availability
We aim to keep BoltNum available around the clock, but we depend on telecoms carriers, payment processors, and AI providers, and we don't guarantee uninterrupted service. Transcripts and AI-extracted caller details are generated automatically and may contain mistakes — the original audio recording is always available to check.
10. Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that can't legally be excluded (such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud). Beyond that, we're not liable for indirect losses — lost profits, lost business, missed calls or missed opportunities — and our total liability to you is capped at the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim. BoltNum is priced as a small-business tool; these limits are what make that price possible.
11. Ending or changing the service
You can cancel any time from your billing settings. We can update these terms as the service evolves — if a change is significant we'll email you before it takes effect, and continuing to use BoltNum after that means you accept it. If we ever discontinue the service, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice and refund any unused portion of your subscription.
12. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction — though if you're a US customer, nothing here removes protections you're entitled to under your local law. Questions? Email hello@boltnum.com.
